Katie's DIY Wedding

Cup Cake Stands:

We decided to go the cup cake route four our wedding cake as we wanted to be able to offer a selection of different types of desserts to the guests.  We decided on 4 different types of cup cakes and to distinguish them from one another I decided to make four cup cake stands that we could put a label card in front of.  I got this idea from another DIY bride the tutorial can be found here and I found the PERFECT wrapping paper at Tuesday Morning.  It was a pretty simple if frustrating to cut project.

You can probably see some white spots in the support part ... I need to do some touch-ups since when I put it back together the paint peeled off because of the glossy finish of the paper.

The Centerpieces:

Here's my version ... with a dying orchid.  Obviously when this is for real we will have orchid in better health.  I made this with a double orchid from Ikea (we will most likely using orchids from Safeway or Wegman's as they are much healthier ... and we have easier access to the amount we need), a BJURÖN plant pot from Ikea, some willow branches (you can get them at Blooms and Branches, or Micheal's) and a clip on butterfly from Micheal's.

Centerpiece inspiration

This is the Teleflora orchid gift (here) that I thought would make a lovely centerpiece that I got the inspiration for my version from.

Winery Table Names:

Aaron and I are big wino's and attend basically every Virginia Wine event there is so we thought it would be appropriate to do table names of local wineries vs table numbers.
Picture
The table name holders were created by hot gluing 6 wine corks together (we asked friends and family to save their wine corks and send them to us :D).  And the tying a raffita bow around the wine corks in two of our wedding colors (chocolate brown and green)

This is an trial version only.  The real ones will be done on cream paper, printed with better quality and then glued onto pink paper.
The table name cards have information on two wines (typically a red and a white) that can will be found at the bar (in limited quantity) made by that winery and the address of the winery and their tasting times.
