Katie's DIY Wedding

Rose Petal Ribbon - Aisle Decor

This was my most time consuming DIY project.  It took an 1 to 1.5 hrs to do each 20 ft strand.  With the help of the venue coordinator at Rust we estimated the isle to be 40 ft long so this meant I needed 12 20 ft rose petal strands.  They were made by first stringing rose petals onto fine gauge fishing line and then hot gluing them into place so they wouldn't have to be repositioned when taken out of storage.

 Flower Cones

These were made by cutting 8.5 by 9 in sections of paint-able wallpaper ($12 a roll @ Home Depot) then spray painting them silver to make them look like metal cones.  These will hang on the inner most chair of each row on either side of the aisle and contain a single jumbo hydrangea bloom.

Flower Girl Accessories:

Wreath:

Since my flower girl (my cousin's youngest daughter) wasn't able to throw rose petals I decided to make her some fun accessories and make her look like a garden fairy.  The first thing I made was this wreath.  I got the idea from a DIY post on Once Wed (DIY Flower Girl Wreath).  This wreath was just my trial but everyone liked it so much I decided to make it the one for the wedding.

Fairy Wand:

The second thing I will make is a fairy wand.  I go the idea from Martha Stewart wedding article (DIY Flower Girl Fairy Wand).  I will hopefully be making this in the next few weeks.

Tear of Joy:

A lot of the other DIY brides on The Knot made these and I thought they were a cute idea. I got monogrammed tissues at Tuesday Morning:

and then followed this tutorial (DIY Tears of Joy) with the exception of generating my labels with a free coupon for return address labels from Vista print.
